Emboss Resist Bliss: Sale-a-bration Sneak Peek

Here's another Emboss Resist project. We made up this calendar cover at my downline meeting earlier this month using the new Sale-a-bration 2011 stamp set "Bliss". I debated whether or not it was too early for a sneak peek, but since I just posted another emboss resist project yesterday, I thought I'd go ahead and share this one now.

I started by stamping the flourish in Versamark ink on Very Vanilla cardstock and embossing with Clear Embossing Powder. Then I sponged Marina Mist over the embossed image (which resists the ink). I used a quarter of a round Stampin' Sponge and "burnished" the ink over the image. Use a small circle motion to rub the ink over the cardstock. The splatter effect is created using the Color Spritzer Tool and Basic Black marker.

My style is usually very clean and simple. My first draft of this project was this monochromatic card.

I felt like it needed more, so I ramped up the vintage style and then turned the card into a pocket calendar cover. The calendar is the perfect thing to keep in the car to track mileage (don't forget to write down your "start" mileage tomorrow as we start a new year!) -- or take it with to workshops so you always know your "next available date".

Supplies: Bliss (SAB set), Marina Mist ink & cardstock, Basic Black ink & cardstock, Very Vanilla cardstock, Versamark ink, First Edition DSP (Occasions Mini), Clear Embossing Powder, Rhinestone Jewel Accents, Large Oval Punch, Victoria Crochet Trim, Color Spritzer Tool

Just Believe Emboss Resist

This card is pretty clean and simple, but the emboss resist technique just makes it POP!

I started by stamping the En Francais background stamp in Concord Crush. Then I embossed the flower with white embossing powder. I finished by sponging Bashful Blue ink over the embossed image (which resists the ink). I used a quarter of a round Stampin' Sponge and "burnished" the ink over the image. Use a small circle motion to rub the ink over the cardstock.

Supplies: Just Believe, En Francais, Concord Crush ink & cardstock, Bashful Blue ink & cardstock, Versamark ink, Whisper White cardstock, White Embossing Powder, Heat Tool, Corner Rounder Punch, Concord Crush Ribbon, Stampin' Dimensionals

Supplies: Word Play, Party This Way, Pacific Point marker & cardstock, Real Red marker & cardstock, Bashful Blue cardstock, Whisper White cardstock, Celebrations DSP, 2-3/89" Scallop Circle Punch, 2-1/2" Circle Punch, Real Red 1/4" Grosgrain Ribbon, Stampin' Dimensionals

Filled with Love Candy Box

Have you seen the Filled with Love bundle? When you purchase the stamp set and specially packaged Love Patterns DSP, you get a free package of Bitty Buttons. I've been playing around with these bundled items and have several projects to inspire you this week. So go ahead and order your bundle now so you'll be ready to make these beauties when your bundle arrives! Click here to visit my Online Store.

For my first project, I made over the Candy Countdown Calendar Kit boxes from the Holiday Mini Catalog. You can still order this kit until January 3rd, the last day to order from the Holiday Mini Catalog. Click here to see my Christmas version of this candy box.

I adhered the glass glitter with a line of Sticky Strip. It was so easy to put the adhesive on the cardstock and then pour on the glitter. And oh heaven! The glitter makes the most beautiful sound as it's shuttled back into the jar!

Rejoicing in Christmas FTL120

I held a Christmas Card class with my Springfield stampers on Saturday. I was trying to design a new card using the Rejoicing in Christmas stamp set from the Holiday Mini Catalog. Nothing was clicking when I first worked on it, but I went back yesterday afternoon and finished it up. What do you think of the non-traditional colors?

I used the FTL120 sketch from Clean and Simple stamping. It's a great layout and really rounded out the card.

Supplies: Rejoicing in Christmas, Rich Razzleberry ink & cardstock, Bashful Blue ink & cardstock, Whisper White cardstock, 2-1/2" Circle Punch, Elegant Lines Embossing Folder (Big Shot), Whisper White Taffeta Ribbon, 2-Way Glue, Dazzling Diamonds Glitter, Stampin' Dimensionals

FREE Shipping on Project Kits

Hello there! Have you missed me? Sorry I've been quiet this past week. It was a busy week and I didn't have anything new to post, and opted to rest instead of scrambling each night to put something up for you. I am fine. We are all healthy and well in the Davison home. It's just been a little crazy. My little ones have become early risers (by early, I mean 5 am!) and that just doesn't work well for this night owl! But I'm back! I've got new projects ready to share all week and a few more I hope to finish up! I'll be back later with a project, but for now, I have a special offer!

I have several extra project kits leftover from this year that are ready to be mailed and just need a loving stamper to give it a good home. So from now until Thursday, December 16th, I am offering free shipping on all project kits orders through me!

Click here to see what's available. Make sure to use the "Buy Now" buttons on THIS page to get the free shipping offer. Some kits are only available in limited quantities, so I will update the page often to indicate those that are sold out.

You can expect your kit to ship within two business days and I will email you with a link to the PDF instructions when your kit ships.

Thanks for shopping with me and happy stamping!!

Simple Cross Cards with Lattice Big Shot die

We had Anna baptized early in November and I made these quick notecards to give to her godparents and the priest for thank you notes.

I used the Lattice die for the Big Shot (#115958, $21.95) and cut it down into a cross shape (see shaded diagram). My cards were just white cardstock on white notecards. (I used Stampin' Dimensionals to make the cross pop up a little.)
You can cut many different shapes from the Lattice die if you get a little creative with your scissors!

And the winner is...

Thanks for all the great comments you left for my blog candy contest. I enjoyed reading about your Christmas traditions and may try to incorporate some of them with my own family as my kids get older and we start new traditions of our own.

Tonight, I used random.org to select a winner for my 500K Blog Candy and the lucky stamper is Lauren Y!

Lauren Y. said...

Congratulations to such a HUGE milestone!

I truly enjoy seeing your clean & beautiful design all the time, thanks for sharing your creativity with us!

Reindeer Card with Stampin' Up! Owl Punch

Do you love the Two-Step Owl Punch? Check out all my Owl Punch projects here. For this card, I was inspired by Elizabeth Ruegemer's punch art on Stampin' Connection. I used the Snowflake Punch for antlers. To make the glittery nose, I inked a sheet of cardstock with Versamark and embossed it with Iridescent Ice embossing powder, then punched it with the Owl Punch (it's the largest circle for the eye). Instead of piecing together the small pieces for eyes, I used googly eyes.

Recognize the layout? It's the same one as the Contempo Christmas ornament card that I posted last week! Click here to see the original card.

Supplies: Contempo Christmas, Cherry Cobbler ink & cardstock, Crumb Cake cardstock, Very Vanilla cardstock, Chocolate Chip cardstock, Jolly Holiday DSP, Snowflake Punch, Two-Step Owl Punch, 1-3/4 Circle Punch, Iridescent Ice embossing powder,Mini Glue Dots, Stampin' Dimensionals

Retro Serigraph Snowflake Cards

Remember that technique I posted last week? I couldn't find a name for it and it's a combination of other techniques, so I dubbed it "Retro Serigraph". (Click here to see my other post and a free tutorial.) I used shades of blue and the snowflakes from the Holiday Mini hostess set Northern Hearts to make these Christmas cards. Leave me a comment and let me know what you think!

This first card was inspired by the FTL118 sketch at Clean & Simple Stamping. My card ended up a little different, but the basic elements are there.

After I cut the circle for the first card, I couldn't bring myself to throw the scrap away, so I made a second card with the frame.

Here's a close-up of that gorgeous background again:

Click here for a free PDF tutorial for the Retro Serigraph technique.

Supplies: Northern Hearts, Four the Holidays, All Holidays, Versamark ink, Baja Breeze ink & cardstock, Not Quite Navy ink & cardstock, Bashful Blue ink, Glossy White cardstock, Whisper White cardstock, Circle Scissors Plus, Northern Flurry Embossing Folder, 2-3/8" Scallop Circle Punch, Rhinestone Jewel Accents, Stampin' Dimensionals

My Digital Studio Convention Scrapbook Pages

Double post today! I had too much fun with My Digital Studio this afternoon and couldn't wait to share these other projects with you! One of my favorite things about My Digital Studio is the designer templates. You can create an entire album in a short time by just adding your photos and some journaling. I made these pages from some of the designer templates from the Summer Home kit included in My Digital Studio. All I did was add pictures from Convention 2009 in Salt Lake City.

Attending Stampin' Up! events like Convention is one of my favorite parts of being a demonstrator. I love this excuse to get away with my friends and family (most of the time I get to meet Mom there!) and do something I love -- stamp!

If you have ever considered signing up to be a demonstrator, you should do it now! With half off the Starter Kits, you'll start your business off with an incredible value for your money! Click here to learn more about this fantastic offer, but don't wait -- the 50% Off Starter Kit special ends Tuesday, November 30.

    Here are my scrapbook pages:

Journaling: Prize Patrol: One of my favorite parts of Convention is all the free stuff and goodies we get to take home! Nancy was surprised and delighted to find out she won a copy of My Digital Studio! I won a free stamp set as a door prize and was a lucky participant in a You Crew experience.

Journaling: 10 Reasons we're so happy: 1. We're at Convention, 2. with all our friends!!, 3.and no kids!, 4. Free stamps!, 5. Fresh ideas!, 6. Memento Mall!, 7. Good food!, 8. Swapping!, 9. Home Office Tour!, 10. Meeting Shelli Gardner!
